Caring is not the Problem

I think a majority of the team cares and wants to succeed, and you will see that in Jacksonville. The problem is the attitude. From top to bottom the attitude resembles nothing conducive for tough football. Part of why we can't run the football is because we are not tough enough. Man enough, Dawg enough no more. The "leaders" of this team were complaining about how hard preseason camp was. That should have been the 1st indication. This attitude is running rampid because no one ever takes responsiblity when something bad happens. When it gets hard we make an excuse. Players are more than willing to make an excuse because the coaches they play for have a record that just keeps repeating itself. It was the refs fault, the wind was not in our favor, we had to fly twice in three weeks, we are banged up up front, we really lack experience in that area, thats what happens some times when you play aggresive. CMR makes excuse after excuse for his players and more importantly his coaches. Until somebody (CMR) steps up and tells it how it is, this type of play and attitude will continue.

We have the quality of athletes we had 5 years ago. I refuse to believe that the entire talent of 85 guys that UF, UA,UT and AU all wanted seem to all be underachieving at the same time. Its the attitude that Georgia does not have that Alabama does. You can care and still not be good.

Other side: The fact that UT had the ball on the 5 yard line and got a receiver open in the endzone by 10 yards is inexcusable. All you had to do was cover 15 yards of a football field and yet their guy runs a crossing route with no one ever within 10 yards of him. They run the exact sam play 10+ times and never, never was an adjustment made, ever. Crompton thought he was in high school again. I was a Willie apologist but not anymore, the dude does not put his playmakers in a position to make plays. Soft zone = soft attiude.

Prince Miller catching a punt on the 1 yard line is not a Prince problem, its a coach problem. He should not be back their for the rest of the season if he was coached on how to not go beyond the 10 yard line. Try a little bit of accountability!

Monty Kiffin said he was finally glad to see a regular offense when preparing for Georgia. The key word in that statement was REGULAR. Run right, run left, play action. The running plays are in slow motion. We can barely hold a block for 1 second. What makes us believe we will be able to hold them for 3?? The problem with play action on 3rd & 12 when you've run the ball for -10 yards on the day is that the linebackers are in their drops before te ball is even snapped. Quit running into the same wall Mike!!!

Someone at FSU brought up the point that the begining of deterioration for FSU was when CMR left for Athens. Well the same might have happened at Georgia when he left the OC position to a guy who was not nearly qualified nor was needed. CMR became Bobby Bowden 30 years to early. I'm not saying he calls plays that much better than Bobo but I think he lost a lot of influence over the direction of the program when he distanced himself. He needs to come back or hire someone who will light a fire under the players, staff, and fan base. Because the attidute resembles that of a pee-wee soccer team right now and unfortunately CMR, CWM, and CMB seem to love orange slices.

I'm not ready to flip out over Bobo yet, but the whole "not caring" thing needed to be addressed by someone.

Though I think when Kiffin said "regular offense," he meant "pro-style offense," as in not Florida or Auburn's spread.

"Crompton thought he was in high school again."

And that's probably not fair to North Carolina high school football.

I'm glad you're no longer a CWM apologist.

"I think a majority of the team cares and wants to succeed, and you will see that in Jacksonville."

You know what else you'll see in Jacksonville? A mercy killing that will make '95 look like an ESPN Instant Classic.

And outside of a couple of players yesterday, the team essentially quit. I equate that to not caring.

I don't know about JJH4, but I wouldn't say "apologist" was the right word for many people's not calling for his head the last couple years.

Georgia getting scorched still seemed to be an anomaly up until the last 10 or 12 games or whatever, when it started becoming the norm.

Good evaluation but this still does not give me any reason to think the players don't care. It only enhances my belief that for some reason our coaches are not getting the team ready to play. And as much heat as CWM and CMB are getting, which they deserve, it doesn't matter whos calling plays if the guys arn't buying in.

Theres no one else in the country that wants to win more than Joe Cox. You could not want anything more than what Curran gives you. Every young guy that steps on the field wants to show they are worthy of an SEC scholarship. Kade Weston wouldn't have lost 15 pounds if he didn't care. Trinton Sturdivant wouldn't be coming back from a second knee surgery if he didn't care. Ben Jones is underachieving this year but just watch how hard he plays.

Teams can care and still not have an attitude needed to win football games. It looks like we play scared and as if we know theres a good chance we might not win. David Pollack, Johnathan Sullivan Thomas Davis, Decory Bryant, Boss Bailey, Greg Blue, David Green, Kevin Breedlove, JT Wall, Damien Gary, Ben Watson, etc. played the game fast, hard, and didn't worry about making mistakes, just making plays and having fun doing it. They carried themselves with that swagger that made you believe they could beat the Falcons. I think we still have similar athletes who want to win, but not guys who know how to win. The attitude use to be there in Tallahassee and they lost it. We have done the same and its CMR's job to decide if and how he wants to bring it back.

Well then find someone that will make them buy in, whether it be a new HC, OC, DC, or all of the above. I don't give a damn. As big of pricks as Meyer and Saban are, their players still buy into their system. Explain.

And this attitude problem, as much as I would love to blame Willard or Bozo, that shit starts at the top. That is 100% Richt's fault.
