The 133rd Running...

Since we seem to make picks for everything else on this blog, I figured this would be a good time for all of us to choose our horses for tomorrow's Kentucky Derby.

The horses and odds can be found here: http://www.kentuckyderby.com/2007/derby_contenders

I've got Any Given Saturday, because the name makes me think of college football. Leave your choices in the comments and be sure to stop by our place for the viewing party and an honest attempt at making mint juleps. See you there.

I'm gonna go with a longshot here so bear with me:

Secretariat

I know this might not have been the answer you were looking for but at least I participated.

If you're going to pick a dead horse, how could it not be Barbaro?

Liquidity is my pick. I like liquids. They are good.

Scat Daddy because I like my Daddy.

Cause Barbaro choked or I guess died under the pressure of the Triple Crown and Secretariat won the whole damn thing.

Seriously though I'll go with Sedgefield. I thought about picking horse number 4 or 16 but that would have been too obvious a pick. Sedgefield's got the inside track even though that doesn't matter a whole lot if he gets left in the dust. He's also got 50-1 odds so if I were to actually bet on him and he won I could buy Lil' Natch (which would make up for not picking 4 or 16). Plus Seabiscuit was a long shot and even though it doesn't pertain to horse racing (but it does pertain to another huge event happening this weekend that I alluded to in an earlier post) Rocky was the longest shot of them all. Sure Hollywood might have had something to do these two examples. However, since all sports, including horse racing, (according to some wise men like RB) are fixed anyways I figure it's pretty much a craps shoot.

I'm going with Cowtown Cat because I like cows...with the exception of J.J. Gargantuan.
