Too good to pass up...

Today while I was waiting for commencement and admiring pictures of Bliss in the new basketball practice facility, I ran into Big John Wright.

BJW "I never thought we'd graduate twice together".

Yeah, John. Me either.

For Rick this means no more 24 hour film group invites.

John informed me that Toth is doing well, living in Indiana and trying to get some kind of license to perform an unspecified type of work. Toth and I recently became Facebook friends but his mom's whereabouts remain uncertain.

Again, Happy Friday.

Friday Notes

1. Shelton and I are sick and tired of being blamed for everything. Yesterday, Shane Goldwater Murray called me to complain about getting frequent calls from an online gambling agency. What does this have to do with me? Well, someone obviously gave the gambling website Murray's number, and White Trash Murray thinks it was me. Whoever did this needs to apologize to bridge-running- Murray and myself.

2. Hippies are pissed about Langerado 09. Bad venue and a weak line-up brah. Relax bros, Phish is back together.

One hippy had this to say (from the Langerado group on Facebook) "More like LAMErado!
Did you just pull emo bands out of your ass and decide they were suitable for what was previously a jam-band festival?"

3. Congrats again to Murray for paying money to run over a bridge. Honestly though, you beat O'Hayer and that's an accomplishment.

4. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it out tonight in Buckhead. Good luck, guys. Swarz will be out once again to prove that he has indeed, "made it". It's all on Rolex time, baby.

5. And lastly, go ahead and mark Friday, January 2nd on your calendars. Party at my beach house for a viewing of the 2009 Sugar Bowl and a reenactment of the 2008 New Orleans trip.

Remember To Mark Jan. 11 On Your Calendars

VH1 reality shows are pretty great in general, but this should be the best one yet.

I present "Tool Academy."

The d’bag gets his day in a new reality series coming from VH1. Check out the details of the forthcoming Tool Academy:

We have all encountered them before: those strutting, preening, over confident alpha-males who lie, cheat, and treat their girlfriends like door mats. They are “tools,” and they desperately need a wake up call. VH1 and 495 Productions are taking 9 of these unsuspecting bad boys and sending them to relationship boot camp in a new series titled Tool Academy. The eight episode series, hosted by Jordan Murphy, is slated to premiere Sunday, January 11 at 10/9c.

The guys, all secretly nominated by their girlfriends, initially believe they are taking part in a competition in search of “Mr. Awesome.” But the tables are turned almost immediately and they quickly learn that they are actually recruits in the Tool Academy, where they will be schooled in proper boyfriend behavior—covering topics like honesty, fidelity, maturity, and communication with resident relationship counselor Trina Dolenz. Each week the guy who shows the least progress in the group is deemed a hopeless tool and dismissed from the academy. But there’s a twist: he must then plead his case before his girlfriend, who decides on the spot if she wants to keep him or kick him to the curb. In the end, only one man will be rewarded for his transformation with a $100,000 cash prize and the title of “Mr. Awesome.”

“This show carries the hope that buried deep inside even the world’s most incorrigible tool, there may actually be a good boyfriend waiting to be revealed,” said Jeff Olde, Executive Vice President of Programming & Production for VH1. “Sometimes all it takes is a little self reflection…and eight weeks of intensive TV therapy.”

Jordan Murphy’s previous hosting duties include all four seasons of NBC’s For Love or Money, USA’s Before & After’noon Movies, and Reality Remix. He has also appeared on such shows as Las Vegas, Scrubs, Charmed, and JAG among others. Murphy is represented by IMG Broadcasting’s Babette Perry and continues to be managed by Kathy Carter.

Trina Dolenz trained as a couples counselor in Cambridge, England, obtaining a Graduate Certificate in Marital and Couples Counseling, as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Couples Therapy from the University of East London. She has run private practices in couples therapy in London as well as her adopted home of Los Angeles.

Remember This Gem?

Greg Doyel might have been right about Georgia being no national title contender, but the Associated Press would beg to differ about that "bad group of receivers."

A.J. Green first-team All-SEC, Massaquoi second-team.

Good call, brother.

The juice is no longer loose,

How can OJ be found guilty of anything. I am no lawyer but my defense would go along the lines of this:
Could this guy hurt anyone?

Weekend Thoughts

1. Congrats to Reardon, Fleming, Lamar,Demott, and Harriot. All good guys who have to feel good after Saturday.

2. I could care less about Tech players and our hedges. At least we have their nets.

3. The whole transfer of power thing makes me laugh. They will be solid as long as Johnson is there and will probably be in constant contention for the ACC crown. But we'll be in contention for the SEC crown. And if our performances in big games against Bama, Florida, and Tech this year make you sick- then welcome to the world of Tech athletics in EVERY sport.

4. Food poisioning sucks. At least I didn't have to hang out Murray too much this weekend.

5. Mo Mass is awesome. I'm glad I never booed him. I'm happy for Tripp Chandler as well although I still don't like him.

6. I agree with Shane on the Stafford thing. Of course, his arguments against Stafford were terrible but that's to be expected.

7. Moreno has been great. I hope he stays, but if he goes, then thanks and good luck.

8. Ellerbe's situation is similar to Georgia's situation. Maybe a little too hyped before the year. Alabama hurt him and they really killed our season. He was too banged up to ever have a chance against Florida and so were we. Against Tech he was back and we had chances, but we couldn't do it. I'd still rather have Ellerbe than any other LB out there. I'd still rather be a fan of Georgia than anywhere else. The last part of Ellerbe= GA football is that we thought he'd be an All-SEC LB but it's Curran who will probably be ALL-SEC. And maybe Cox, Gray, or even Murray will be better for us than Stafford.

9. It really feels like basketball season now for me. I am going to try to go to a lot of BC basketball games this year. Too bad TC is back for his 37th year. I was under the impression they had finally moved on but I guess not.

10. Swarz got me back by flooding my bathroom. Thank goodness the Sandcastle prepared me for such situations.

11. There is not a better person to go downtown with than PLOWE.

12. If anyone wants to make a hundred bucks, then write me a 4-5 page paper on some public policy where rational choice theory is ignored.

13. After Tuesday no more Jim Martin/ Saxby ads. Thank God. To hell with Sigma Chi.

14. It would suck to be Texas right now. At least Mack doesn't bitch like CPC. CMB > CPC- obviously head to head but also as a person.

15. All the shit about CWM bothers me. He just needs to go. For whatever reason, our defense has come up short too many times this year, and it's time to try someone new. Let's get Coach O to coach our D.

16. Paul Johnson at home with Tech against FBS opponents: 4-1.
Mark Richt at Tech's home against Tech: 4-0.
