This is the best move Frank Wren has made all year. Diaz was not that good. He crushed lefties but he was a liability in the outfield unless a fan rushes the field, then he is the security in the stadium. Oh and he was going to get paid about 3 to 5 million to basically be a bench player. Great move to resign Hinske though.
I liked Diaz because he produced at least something unlike McClouth, Ankiel, and Cabrera. It might have only been against lefties but the other 3 hit neither. But most importantly he tossed the piss out of his bat every time he connected and didn't take any crap from Escobar.
I will agree with you he did toss the bat when he would crush an oppo hr. But I am personally tired of the platoon left field, and 5 years is long enough. To be honest I only think he was there that long was because of me Bobby Cox........Although I do like him. He reminds me of Paul Bunyan when he is hitting....or a construction worker. Give him a hard hat and you wouldnt know the difference.
I'll agree that left field has been a hole almost since Gant. Chipper was the best left fielder since him and he did it because we couldn't get a real LF and got another 3B in Castilla instead. For some reason that position just can be settled.
Maybe they should try giving wolfe a call, or maybe almond. But if it was up to me I would sign Jamie Nathaniel. 1. He was one of the best oufielders in the Munch era. 2. And boy did he know how to run the bases.

But don't get me wrong, I'd let Diaz pitch if we could get him back. He was also the emergency catcher for the past 5 years.
